You have to know the past to understand the present
Carl Sagan

Built on the fortunes of copper mines, the William Holland Copper Bath framed by the elegant bay windows at Eynsham Hall provides a reverent link between the buildings past and its luxurious present.

The Hall itself is a grand Georgian building. With stately fireplaces, majestic chimneys and rich wood panelling, traditional features have been contrasted and complimented by quirky eclectic design. Lime green chandeliers reside alongside traditional hunting prints, geometric wallpapers offset grand oak bookcases, and vibrant sunflower chesterfields add a surprising and glorious touch to this iconic classic.

With floors designed by renowned English Architect Sir Charles Barry known for his role in rebuilding the Palace of Westminster and celebrated Architect Owen Jones who claimed ‘form without colour is like a body without a soul’ their influential presence is felt throughout the buildings interior.

Although the architecture is typically Georgian, an impressive collection of historical periods influence the rooms. With Jacobean inspired panelling, stone fireplaces salvaged from French Chateaux and Inigo Jones style plasterwork, the interior is a design lovers’ dream.

It is the bridal suite however, joyously revived with traditional luxury that truly displays the magic of Eynsham.

We wanted to create a splash in the Bridal Suite by placing the beautiful copper bath by William Holland in the bay window of the elegantly proportioned room to give a sense of grandeur and luxury. The choice of copper was informed by the history of the house, whose original owner made his fortune from copper mining in Portugal – so there is a link to the past.

With panoramic views from the Copper Bathtub over the vast idyllic grounds, it would be hard to find a more tranquil, and magical space to prepare for married life. The gleaming natural copper, paired with the immaculate stone arch windows perfectly framing the expansive Oxfordshire landscape is the ultimate recipe for relaxation.

There is a wonderful aesthetic metaphor that weaves its way through the Bridal venue of Eynsham Hall. From the highly traditional Bridal suite containing historical reflections, the interior styles move seamlessly from the past towards a beautiful partnership of old and new.

With the sophisticated blend of iconic historical styles, juxtaposing vibrant colour with rich natural materials and the creative mix of contemporary and traditional flair, Eynsham Hall is without question, the perfect marriage of past and present.
